Dear Valued Customer,
On June 15, 2010 the FCC has prohibited further certification, manufacture, importation,
sale or usage of the 121.5 MHz ELTs. The COSPAS-SARSAT satellite system monitored
the distress signal from the 121.5 MHz frequency and relayed those signals to the
search and rescue authorities. On Feb. 1, 2009 the satellite system stopped monitoring
the 121.5 ELT and one of the sources for monitoring for now is the airlines tuned
to the 121.5 MHz distress frequency which is not accurate and sccording to the NTSB
chances are less than 5 percent of the aircraft being located.
The 406 ELT's that are now out in the market are far better than the 121.5 ELT due
to increased reliability, stronger signal and the additional information given during
its signal output which includes names, address, telephone numbers, type and model
of aircraft including the "N" number of the aircraft. The 406 MHz works off of the
COSPAS-SARSAT satellite system and using the GPS coordinates the aircraft can be
located to down to a few feet. The 406 ELTs that are out in the market offer from
built in GPS to interfacing with your existing GPS and/or NAV radio. Executive Air
has installed a wide variety of 406 ELTs and can accommodate your installation.
Executive Air has also acquired the distributorship and installer for the AmSafe
air bag/seat belt system. These reliable and proven air bag systems are installed
on new aircraft coming from Cessna, Beechcraft, Piper, Mooney, Aviatt and Gulfstream.
AMSafe has acquired STC approval for most GA aircraft for aftermarket installation.
These air bags will not deploy in bad landings or turbulence and since the air bag
deploys outwards they can be used with a child. The added weight for this installation
is around 3 pounds per seat. Visit www.amsafe.com for more information.
Please feel free to call if you have any questions on the 406 ELTs or the AmSafe
seat belt system.
Warmest Regards,
Ben Watkins
